How to Dictate Into Claude and Claude Code
Claude the app and Claude Code are different products, but KeyVox lets you talk into both instead of typing every word.

Talk Into the Claude App
If a Claude shortcut gets in the way, choose a different KeyVox trigger key in KeyVox settings.
- Open Claude and click its message box.
- Hold your KeyVox trigger key and speak.
- Let go to stop recording. KeyVox creates the completed text and inserts it together in the box.
- The message stays in the box until you send it.
- Press Send when it is ready.
Talk Into Claude on iPhone
KeyVox works on iPhones running iOS 18.6 or later, and Full Access must be enabled for the KeyVox keyboard.
- Open a conversation in the Claude app.
- Tap the message field and switch to the KeyVox keyboard.
- Tap the microphone, speak, and tap again to stop. KeyVox creates the completed text and inserts it together.
- The text stays in the box until you send it.
- Tap Claude’s send control when the prompt is ready.
Talk Into Claude Code on Mac
A terminal can do more than chat, so make sure Claude Code is waiting for a message before you speak. KeyVox adds the words but does not press Return or run anything. Claude Code still needs the internet to provide its AI service.
- Open the Mac terminal where Claude Code is waiting for your instructions.
- Click the place where you normally type to Claude Code.
- Hold your KeyVox trigger key and explain what you want done.
- Let go to stop recording. KeyVox creates the completed text and inserts it together in the terminal.
- KeyVox places the text in the prompt without running it.

An Easy Way to Explain a Coding Task
Talking makes it easy to include the background and small details that can help Claude Code understand the job. The command stays in the terminal until you press Return.
- Result: Say what you want to happen.
- Place: Mention the part of the project you mean.
- Keep: Explain anything that should not change.
- Problem: Describe what you saw or what went wrong.
- Check: Say how Claude Code should make sure the work is done.

No. Only the KeyVox speech-to-text step is local. Anthropic’s Claude Code documentation says internet access is required for authentication and AI processing.
